How ROCFcare handles your information

ROCFcare supports orthopaedic recovery monitoring for Reconstructive Orthopaedics of Central Florida. This page explains what information is collected, how it is used, and the safeguards around your care data.

1. Who We Are

ROCFcare is a Remote Therapeutic Monitoring platform operated by Reconstructive Orthopaedics of Central Florida (“ROCF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located at 1015 SE 17th Street, Suite 100, Ocala, FL 34471. ROCFcare is designed to support orthopaedic recovery through secure communication between patients and the care team.

2. Information We Collect

  • Contact information: name, phone number, email address, and date of birth
  • Health information: pain scores, functional status, medication information, symptom descriptions, and self-reported recovery data
  • Clinical information: procedure type, diagnosis, surgery date, and treatment details entered by your care team
  • Communication records: SMS messages, check-in responses, and interactions with the platform
  • Technical data: device, browser, and access information when using the platform

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Monitor recovery and identify possible complications earlier
  • Enable communication between patients and the ROCF team
  • Support AI-assisted triage to help prioritize concerns
  • Generate documentation related to RTM services
  • Improve monitoring quality, workflow, and patient safety

4. HIPAA Compliance

As a healthcare provider, ROCF is a covered entity under HIPAA. Protected health information collected through ROCFcare is handled in accordance with HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Role-based access controls for authorized staff only
  • Audit logging for access to patient records
  • Business Associate Agreements with vendors that handle PHI
  • Security review and staff training practices

5. AI-Assisted Monitoring

  • AI does not make diagnoses or treatment decisions
  • AI output is used to assist prioritization and review
  • Clinical judgment by the ROCF team remains the controlling standard
  • Urgent concerns should still be escalated clinically and immediately when needed

6. Research Use

If you provide optional research consent, de-identified recovery data may be used for clinical research to improve orthopaedic outcomes. Participation is optional and does not affect your care.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your mobile number or SMS consent to third parties or affiliates for marketing or lead generation purposes. Information may be shared only as needed for care delivery, operations, or legal compliance with:

  • Your ROCF physicians, PAs, and clinical staff involved in your care
  • Insurance and billing workflows as part of care delivery
  • Technology vendors operating under contractual privacy obligations and Business Associate Agreements where applicable
  • Legal or safety-related requirements when necessary

8. Data Retention

Health information is retained in accordance with applicable Florida medical records requirements. Requests regarding access or corrections can be made through the office.

  • Access your health information

  • Request restrictions on certain uses
  • Receive an accounting of disclosures where applicable
  • File a complaint if you believe privacy rights were violated
  • Opt out of RTM monitoring at any time without affecting orthopaedic care

10. SMS Text Message Program

ROCFcare sends automated SMS text messages as part of the recovery monitoring program. Patients opt in by completing the ROCFcare enrollment form and checking the SMS consent box before submitting the form. By enrolling and providing consent, you agree to the following:

  • Program name: ROCFcare Recovery Monitoring
  • Message types: Recovery check-ins, missed check-in reminders, care coordination updates, and secure links to complete recovery monitoring tasks during an active episode of care
  • Message frequency: Varies; approximately 1 message per day during an active monitoring episode
  • Msg&Data rates may apply depending on your wireless carrier and plan
  • Opt out: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from ROCFcare texts. You will receive a confirmation message that no further messages will be sent unless you opt back in. You may also contact the office at (352) 456-0220

  • Re-enroll: Reply START or YES to resume messages after opting out
  • Consent is not required as a condition of purchase or treatment
  • Consent sharing: SMS consent and your mobile number are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or lead generation purposes
  • Supported carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and most major U.S. carriers

Messages are non-promotional and relate only to your active orthopaedic treatment and recovery monitoring with ROCF.

11. Security

ROCFcare uses secure hosting, encrypted communications, access controls, and audit logging. No system can guarantee zero risk, but protecting patient information is treated as a core requirement.
